Pafos Souls Details 2025

Awarded the Prize of Excellence at the Larnaca Biennale in 2018, the Pafos Souls triptych marked the genesis of my engagement with century-old fused glass negatives. In Pafos Souls Details 2025, I delve back into those same three plates—not to restore, but to extract.

Through close examination, I have curated 165 distinct artworks, each isolated from the deteriorated textures, chemical streaks, and fused silhouettes embedded in the negatives. Using a discreet Photoshop enlargement technique, I have scaled these elements to Fine Art dimensions without compromising their tactile integrity.

These details are not remnants—they are discoveries. I have isolated the beauty of facial expressions etched by time, and celebrated the unpredictable poetry of fused random imagery. Through added color, each fragment becomes a contemporary composition—renewed, reimagined, and brought into the present.

In one form, the corrosion resembles coiled serpents or the curving neck of a swan. Elsewhere, jagged shapes rise like shards of ceramic, or a dragon’s jaw mid-roar. I’ve seen what look like worms, a distant nebula, or even the pointed ears of wild dogs mid-hunt—moments that echo both myth and material.

Each piece stands as an autonomous vision, drawn from what time and chemistry attempted to erase. They are fragments of unintentional beauty, made whole through close attention and the belief that even the smallest scars of history can speak with power.
