Will i be free again?

I grew up on a small beautiful Mediterranean island with a history of 9.000 years. Unfortunately, my island has been concord over and over ever since.In 1960 independence was given to the Cypriots. The Cypriots were a divided (Religious) society with many issues unsolved. For the first time in its history, Cypriots governed the island for the first time independently together. The coalition lasted three years, and in 14 years only, in 1974, the Turkish military invaded the island dividing it into two. They created a border by separating the population, creating refugees from both sides, and named it the Green Line, which is up today protected by the UN security peace force.The mountain in the background is Pentadaktylos, Cyprus. For the last 47 years, it reminds the Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots of their reality. Their divided reality.The yellow, orange field in the center is the Green Line territory. "The Green Line was only named because General Yang had drawn it with a green pencil on the map".In the foreground now, we see several individuals playing on a sculpture positioned near the border. Each one of them is independent, ignoring the existence of each other. I don't understand why this is happening. Neither do they. The color chosen for each character represents a specific emotion that allows them to communicate.I was born in 1975, 5 months after the invasion, in South Africa, as bilateral damage, a refugee. I returned after five years and grew up in Paphos, a beautiful small town on the South West of the island. My father was a sculptor and writer, awarded and recognized. He also ran a restaurant that is still in the family.All prints in my Reconstructing Our Common Values section exhibition are available in a limited edition series.
